Measurements
Bulk Product – Square Feet / Square Yards
LENGTH of area X WIDTH of area = Square Feet of Material
[Ex: 5 FEET x 18 FEET area of mulch = 90 Square Feet of Material]
Tip: Divide by 9 to get # of Square Yards [90 Sq Ft = 10 Sq Yards]
- 1 Ton of Gravel will cover between 80 – 120 Sq Ft at a 2” depth approx.
- A full size ¾ or 1 Ton pick-up can hold 2 to 3 cubic yards of mulch
- 1 Cubic Yard of mulch covers 100 Sq Ft at a 3” depth approx.
Paver Block / Brick – Amount needed
To determine how many blocks/bricks you will need you will need to know the size of your block, and the size of the area you will be covering.
If you are creating a 100 Sq Ft patio with 4” x 8” Block, calculate like this:
4” x 8” Block = 32 Square Inches (4 x 8)
A Square Foot has 144 Square Inches.
Divide the Block Size (32) Into 144.
144 / 32 = 4.5
You will need 4 ½ Blocks for every Square Foot of space you are covering.
Multiply the total area’s Sq Ft (100) by the number of Blocks needed per Sq Ft.
100 x 4.5 = 450
You will need approx. 450 Blocks for your project. *See Overages
Overages
If you are cutting block to fit together in a particular pattern, or to fit along a non-square or curved edge, or if you have never installed paver block before, you should plan on purchasing an overage of 5 – 10%.
